Wines of the 2003 vintage
In 2003, I moved my winemaking from Luna Vineyards to the Vandendreissche family’s beautiful and wonderful White Rock Vineyards. The winery was a veritable schoolhouse; its environment strongly shaped the experimental and learning thrust of the project.
I made no white wines for the Project in 2003: I could not afford to renew the contract on Guman, and so put it under contract to Luna; and I had become the Maldonado’s winemaker for their own wine, made under their name.
I made Babylon for the first time—not because I could afford the fruit, but because Steve and Linda Tenbrink gave me a ton as a gift at harvest.
