2008 La Severità di Bruto Farina Vineyard

posters from alex kongsgaard’s home, harvest 2007

This wine is still in barrel, utterly fresh and young. Right now, the best barrels inflict pain when you taste them. This is our most promising vintage of this wine ever. There are several factors. The fruit was smaller and more intense than in 2007; perhaps even more so than in 2005 and 2006. The fermentation was slow, but direct and uncomplicated. And complete. The vintages of 2006 and 2007 slowed or stuck to various degrees, and in both cases; this made the wine softer, even if more complex. The relatively rapid and complete primary fermentations made it easier to completely prevent malolactic fermentation.

The wine is merciless, like death-ray robots.
