2007 SylphsGuman Vineyards

39 cs bottled

The amount of fruit that we harvested from Guman declined again: 1.1 tons. But scant as it was, it was beautifully ripe, burnished by sun but not raisined, nor in any way diminished by mold or mildew. Glorious fruit. Tiny berries. We pressed it well this year and got much better yields than in 2006: 129 gallons.

The wine is rich, and raucously powerful. Not as sherry-like as the 05 or 06 and with better minerality than either. The wine is golden and so viscous that it looks like oil, not wine. Because of the acidity and minerality, it is still lively in the mouth, like a dancer rampaging.
